‘I was misquoted’
Letter to the Editor
Aug. 31, 2023 12:50 pm
I have asked the Hometown Current for a correction/retraction of some of the things said in the Aug. 30 article as I feel I was misquoted.
I did not say a couple from rural Iowa County moved into town because of the wind turbines. I don’t even know the family personally (I have only talked to Dan approximately twice in the past three years).
There are numerous articles of people who have moved because of wind turbines. I told the interviewer that I have talked to Dan Folkmann and that he had an article in the Hometown Advertiser in 2020 and she might want to try and contact him. She told me she was writing an article and was looking for information about wind turbines. I emailed her quite a bit of information.
I write my letters based on information I get from internet articles, newspaper articles, articles from government and private organizations, issues that have been discussed at Supervisor’s meetings and personal experience.
I chose to live in Iowa County because I love it here. My neighbors are some of the best people I know. There are lots of good people in Iowa County that are kind, willing to help others, believe in God, our Country and property rights.
The farms in Iowa County are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. I am concerned about safety, property rights and the industrialization/loss of agricultural ground. That is why I keep writing letters to the paper when I learn new information about industrial wind turbines.

(Editor’s note: The Hometown Current conducted a lengthy phone interview with Leubka during which she referenced Folkmann multiple times as an example of someone who moved because of the noise from wind turbines. We stand behind our original article.)
