Imagine Grinnell hosts Thanksgiving run, bike ride

GRINNELL — Imagine Grinnell will host the traditional Turkey Trot 5K run and walk, previously led by local organizers who are stepping down.
On Thanksgiving morning, Imagine Grinnell will host both the Turkey Trot and the Gravel Gobbler 16K bike ride, welcoming runners, walkers and riders of all levels.
The event kicks off at Merrill Park Thursday, Nov. 28, at 8:30 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the MICA Food Pantry. Suggested donations include baking supplies, canned vegetables and fruit, pancake mix, syrup, cereal, soup and ramen noodles.
The Gravel Gobbler is a mixed-surface bike ride covering about 10 miles suitable for riders of all abilities. The route begins at Merrill Park and takes participants along mixed road and gravel paths within the city.
Riders should dress warmly and are required to wear helmets.
The Turkey Trot route also starts at Merrill Park. It winds north through the Country Club neighborhood. Participants are reminded to dress appropriately for the weather.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early for a group photo before the events begin.
