MARENGO — Joseph A. Adkins, 31, of Joliet, Illinois was charged Jan. 22 in Iowa County District Court with operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
The Iowa State Patrol arrested Adkins Jan. 22 about 2:24 p.m. on 220th Street in Williamsburg while he was driving a 2024 Nissan Frontier reported stolen to Ottawa, Illinois, Police by USIC.
According to court documents, USIC in Lombard, Illinois, terminated Adkins who then took a work truck without permission, saying he was going to California.
Jeremy Keith Heldt, 39, of Cedar Rapids was charged Jan. 23 with theft in the second degree, a Class D felony.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department arrested Heldt on F52 Trail in Williamsburg Jan. 22 about 7:20 p.m. A deputy was alerted while in the 3000 block of M Avenue that the 2014 Ford Edge driven by Heldt was reported stolen by Guzman Juan Corio.
Kyle Anthony Chyma, 36, of Toledo, was charged Jan. 23 with failure to stop in an assured clear distance. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Chyma Jan. 21 at 4:49 a.m. on I-80 east at mile marker 211.4.
Robert Matthew Donahue, 60, of Amana, was charged Jan. 28 with unlawful passing of a school bus, first offense. Donahue is accused by the Iowa County Sheriff’s office of failing to stop for a bus about 3:45 p.m. Jan. 27 at Iowa 149 and Timber View.
Brian Robert Crotts, 55, of Fort Dodge, was charged Jan. 25 with operating a vehicle while under the influence, first offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Crotts about 1:29 a.m. Jan. 25 in the 2500 block of Iowa Highway 149 for going 63 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. A breath test recorded Crotts’ blood alcohol level at 0.122% according to court documents.
Roger Lee Lortz, 57, of North English, was charged Jan. 26 with operating a vehicle while under the influence, first offense. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Lortz about 8 p.m. Jan. 25 for going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone and noticed and open can of beer in the driver’s side front door.
A breath test recorded Lortz’ blood alcohol level at 0.086%, according to court documents.
Jarrod Alan Lavely, 43, of Riverside, was charged Jan. 26 with operating a vehicle while under the influence, second offense and with possession of dangerous weapons while under the influence.
About 10:48 p.m. Jan. 15, an Iowa County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a 2015 Ram pickup cross the center line and the fog line on F52, according to court documents. He stopped the truck, smelled alcohol and saw two open containers of Captain Morgan Rum.
The deputy also found a loaded Ruger LC9S 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in the center console and a rifle under the backseat.
Lavely’s blood alcohol content tested at 0.143%, court documents say. He was previously convicted of OWI in Johnson County in February of 2018.
Aaron James Nelson, 49, of Harlan, was charged Jan. 26 with operating a vehicle while under the influence, third or subsequent offense. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department arrested Nelson about 1 p.m. Jan. 25 in the McDonald’s parking lot at 235 E. Evans St. in Williamsburg.
At the jail, Nelson’s blood alcohol content tested at 0.232%. He was previously convicted of OWI in June of 2014 and in June 2022.
