MARENGO — William Jason Hynick, 51, of Eddyville was charged April 4 in Iowa County District Court with a controlled substance violation and failure to affix a drug stamp, Class B felonies; with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense; and with possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Iowa State Patrol stopped Hynick about 12:27 p.m. April 4 on the eastbound exit of Interstate 80 at mile marker 225 on suspicion of having an overweight commercial vehicle. During the stop, the Iowa State Patrol found a glass pipe and a glass bong with orange liquid behind the driver’s seat, according to documents filed with the court.
The investigating officer believed the substance in the pipe looked like methamphetamine, and Hynick admitted to having meth on his person, the court documents say. Hynick had three bags which he said he paid $600 for.
A field sobriety test led the officer to believe Hynick was impaired, according to the court document.
Nicholas John Wiebold, 33, of Williamsburg, was charged April 5 with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. The Iowa State Patrol arrested Wiebold about 5:23 p.m. March 27.
Ahjanae Lashae Byrd, 17, of Ottumwa, was charged April 8 with driving with a suspended license. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Byrd about 8:25 p.m. April 5.
Shelby Lynn Mullnix, 28, of Williamsburg, was charged April 8 with possession of drug paraphernalia. Mullnix gave Marengo police a broken glass pipe with drug residue as police searched her prior to transporting her to the emergency room about 10:22 p.m. April 7, according to documents filed with the court.
