MARENGO — Danny E. Dietz, 50, of Marengo, was charged May 22 in Iowa County District Court with driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
The Iowa State Patrol stopped Dietz on Franklin Avenue at North Street about 12:56 p.m. May 21.
Colby John Lane, 39, was charge May 24 with driving while his license was denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
Lane was stopped by Williamsburg police May 10 about 7:43 a.m. on the ramp from Iowa Highway 149 north to Interstate 80 east.
Kevin Stephen King, 40, of Millersburg, was charged May 26 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, third or subsequent offense.
According to a report from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, King was involved in a physical altercation at Hometown Cafe in Millersburg about 5:36 p.m. May 24. He drove away in a white 2003 GMC Sierra, the report says.
A sheriff’s deputy found King at his home, several blocks from the café standing next to the vehicle, which was running, the report says. According to the deputy, King smelled of alcohol and had blood shot eyes. A breathe test recorded a blood alcohol content of more than .08%
King has two previous convictions for OWI, one from Washington County in July of 2021 and a second in Keokuk County in April of 2025, according to court documents.
King was also charged with interference with official acts after actively resisting arrest, according to a report filed by a sheriff’s deputy. King pulled away from the deputy and lay on the ground, the report says.
During transport, King began hyperventilating and passing out, the deputy said in the report. The deputy stopped the car and called an ambulance. King tried to run, the deputy said, and was taken down and restrained.
After medical personnel said King was OK, King refused to stand and was picked up by three deputies and put in a sheriff’s vehicle, according to the deputy’s report.
King also resisted walking at the jail and had to be escorted by two deputies, the deputy alleges in his report.
King pleaded not guilty. A non-jury trial is set for Oct. 7 at 9:30 a.m.
William Frank Fuchs, 41, of Cedar Rapids, was charged May 28 with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, first offense.
Fuchs was stopped by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department about 12:30 a.m. May 28 at U.S. 151 near C Street in Amana for driving 68 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, according to a report filed by a sheriff’s deputy.
The deputy smelled marijuana, and Fuchs gave him a container with three joints. Fuchs said a friend of his left them in the car, according to the court document.
The joints tested positive for THC, the deputy said.
Fuchs also had marijuana vape in his pocket, according to the court document.
