MARENGO — Jessica Marie Caskey, 41, of Marengo was charged July 9 in Iowa County District Court with violation of a no contact or protective order.
The Marengo Police Department said in a court filing that Caskey admitted July 8 to sending a message via Facebook Messenger to Darrick James Mahan, of Kalona about 4 p.m. May 11.
According to Marengo police, the message was profane and harassing in nature.
A no contact order had been issued May 2 after Mahan was arrested the previous day for domestic abuse and assault on Caskey at their home in Marengo.
Caskey was charged with violation of a no contact order again after Caskey confronted Mahan July 7 at noon at a rental storage unit in Williamsburg.
According to a report filed with the court by Williamsburg Police, Mahan was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in front of storage until 28 at 305 N. Walnut St. in Williamsburg when Caskey arrived in a black Jeep Cherokee and parked behind the vehicle Mahan was in, blocking it.
The report says that Caskey told Mahan that he wasn’t allowed to be at the storage unit because it belonged to Caskey. According to Williamsburg police, Mahan had been allowed to store items in the storage unit while Caskey and Mahan were in an intimate relationship.
The storage unit was not specifically listed on the no contact order, the police report said.
Craig Daniel Hall pleaded guilty July 9 to harassment in the first degree for sending messages to Iowa County Assistant District Attorney Tim Dille and his wife.
Hall recieved a two-year suspended sentence and two years probation and was fined $855.
Hall, 43, of North English, was charged May 22 with harassment in the third degree after sending harassing messages of a threatening nature to Dille via Facebook Messenger, according to a report filed with the court. Hall threatened to burn down Dille’s residence if Dille didn’t drop criminal charges against him, the report said.
Vincent Charles Thede, charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, a Class D felony, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of criminal mischief in third degree July 7. He was sentenced to serve nine days in Iowa County Jail and received credit for nine days served.
Thede, 56, of Chelsea, was charged Sept. 13 after Iowa County Sheriff’s Department arrested him for damaging a Morton building at 2109 Highway 6 Trail, Marengo Aug. 10 about 11:16 a.m.
According to a report filed with the court, Thede struck the door of the building with a sledgehammer, causing dents, and used a pry bar to try to open the door. Thede allegedly cut holes in the steel siding of the building with a saw.
Cost to repair the building exceeded $1,500, according to the sheriff’s report. Video footage showed the defendant causing the damage, the Sheriff’s Department said.
