According to a report filed by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, Hamilton was stopped about 8:07 a.m. July 24 on 125th St. near Marengo while driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado K3500 owned by Corridor Network Construction in Cedar Rapids.
Hamilton told the deputy that he had borrowed the truck from a friend, but Corridor said he didn’t have permission to have the vehicle, the sheriff’s report says.

Brenneman purchased the truck for $2,900, according to the DOT, but Breeneman claimed that he had paid only $500. The difference of $2,400 is subject to fees for new registration at 5%, according to court documents. That $120 is allocated to road use tax, the documents say.
Brenneman also reported the odometer reading as 200,000 miles, but the seller said he had advertised the mileage as 270,000. Brenneman said he used 200,000 from his Facebook Marketplace ad when he was reselling the truck, according to court documents. The truck had 290,000 miles on it at the time.
Brenneman pleaded guilty and was fined $105.
James Harold Baethke, 41, of Belle Plaine, was charged July 28 with violation of a no contact order.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department said it received a request for a welfare check on Carrie Jean Grimm. A witness received a text from Grimm that said Grimm was being held against her will at Baethke’s residence, according to a report filed by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy found Baethke and Grimm in a shed. A protective order had been issued by Benton County Dec. 20, 2024 due to a domestic disturbance, according to court documents.
Baethke pleaded not guilty. A non-jury trial was set or 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2.
A no contact order was issued July 27.
