MARENGO — Maleek Jamal Turner, 23, of Des Moines, was charge Aug. 9 in Iowa County District Court with driving while his license is denied suspended canceled or revoked.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Turner on Interstate 80 at mile marker 212 about 6:25 p.m. Aug. 7. Turner was also charged with having an open container of alcohol.
Jaron Michael Hand, 25, of Hartwick was charged Aug. 11 with driving while his license is denied, suspended canceled or revoked. He was stopped by Marengo police about 2:34 p.m. Aug. 11 at Iowa Highway 212 and Cherry Avenue.
Hand was also charged with fraudulent use of registration.
Nathan Michael Arp, 24, of Williamsburg, was charged Aug. 8 with operating a vehicle while under the influence, first offense, with carrying a dangerous weapon while ineligible and with possession of a controlled substance, first offense.
Arp was stopped by an Iowa County Sheriff’s deputy at V Avenue and 210th Street about 10:13 p.m. Aug. 7. He failed a standard field sobriety test, according to the report filed with the court, and his blood-alcohol level tested at 0.167.
Arp was also charged with possession of an open container of alcohol, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and with having a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
Arp has no prior OWI or drug convictions, according to the court report.
Arp pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and having an open container. A non-jury trial is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 16.
Yordi Yair Vazquez, 23, of Marengo, was charged Aug. 11 with theft in the fifth degree.
Marengo police allege that Vazquez let Big G at 310 W. Dillin about 2:50 p.m. Aug. 9 with about $40 worth of meat, cheeses, bread and tomatoes without paying for them.
Kyler Chadwick Gorsh, 20, of Victor, was charged Aug. 10 with possession of marijuana. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Gorsh at B Avenue and A diagonal about 1:23 a.m. Aug. 10 because the Chevrolet Malibu he was driving didn’t have functioning license plate light.
The deputy detected alcohol, according to the report filed with the court. Gorsh’s blood-alcohol level tested 0.046%.
While searching the care for alcohol, the deputy found a marijuana vape pen that tested positive for THC, according to the report filed with the court.
Gorsh was also charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21, first offense.
Brennan Marlin Hanson, 30, of Williamsburg, was charged Aug. 10 with driving while his license is denied or revoked.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the court, a Williamsburg police office saw Hanson driving in the 100 block of North Street about 8:31 p.m. Aug. 10 and then pull into The Depot at 103 S. Highland Street.
The officer knew that Hanson’s license was revoked and stopped Hanson have Hanson got back in the car and drove away.
Matthew Leon Loffer, 49, of Marengo, was found guilty Aug. 11 of letting an animal run at large, fourth offense. He was fined $500.
Marengo police had alleged that Loffer allowed his animal to run at large about 8:42 p.m. Nov. 15, 2024. He was charged Dec. 12, 2024 and pleaded not guilty.
