MARENGO — Deshawn Green, 47, of Ankeny, was charged Aug. 21 in Iowa County District Court with driving while barred.
Williamsburg police stopped Green about 4 a.m. Aug. 21 on Interstate-80 for driving 88 miles per hour. Instead of producing a driver's license, Green gave the officer an Iowa ID, according to a report filed with the court.
Dispatch informed the officer that Green was barred from driving in Iowa, the police report says.
Clarence Daquan Torrell Reddix-Morris, 25, of Victor, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and with possession of marijuana, second offense.
According to a report filed with the court by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, Ryan Michael Christy identified Reddix-Morris Aug. 25 about 1:40 a.m. as the person who struck him with a weightlifting curl bar, causing bruising on Christy’s left shoulder, right knee and the right side of his head and face.
Reddix-Morris admitted striking Christy with the bar, according the report filed with the court. Reddix-Morris had blood on his shirt and pants and requested to be handcuffed, the report says.
Reddix-Morris asked to take his backpack to jail with him, the court report says. A search of the backpack found a THC vape cartridge.
Reddix-Morris has a prior marijuana conviction from Jasper County in September 2024.
A no-contact order was issued Aug. 25.
Jesse Ray Berstler, 49, of Marengo, was charged Aug. 20 with three counts of possession of controlled substances, third or subsequent offense, one count for cocaine, one for methamphetamine and one for marijuana.
According to a report filed by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, a search warrant was executed July 10 at 9:06 a.m. at 804 Pine St. #12 in Marengo where Berstler was living. Officers found several narcotic related items that tested positive for cocaine, methamphetamine and THC, the report says.
Officers found several glass pipes, a marijuana grinder, digital scale and a rubber tray with THC wax.
Berstler has been convicted of possession twice before, according to the complaint filed with the court.
Allison May Peska, 37, of Marengo, who also lived at the residence, was also charged with possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.
Berstler and Peska were also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
William Allen Frondle Jr., 58, of Indianola, was charged Aug. 20 with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. He was arrested by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department Aug. 19 at 2:48 p.m. at Adams St. and Court Ave.
Junior Ntoto Kumbar, 39, of Cedar Rapids, was charged Aug. 23 with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Kumbar at 10:05 p.m. Aug. 22 on U.S. Highway 151.
Kumbar was also cited for speeding.
Loys Allen Baethke, 69, of Belle Plaine, was charged Aug. 24 with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. He was arrested by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department Aug. 21 at 3:14 p.m. at D Avenue and Iowa Highway 212.
Baethke was also cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
Hunter James Bazyn, 18, of Victor, was charged Aug. 20 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Bazyn at Third and Washington Streets in Victor Aug. 19 about 10:40 p.m. He showed impairment and smelled of alcohol, according to a report filed with the court.
A preliminary breath tests showed a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.02 but less than 0.08, the report said. A later DataMaster test recorded alcohol content of 0.089.
Bazyn was also cited for having improper rear lamps and for failure to obey a traffic control device.
Matthew Patrick Hartz, 55, of Iowa City, was charged Aug. 24 with public intoxication. He was arrested by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department about 9:33 p.m. Aug. 23 at mile marker 226.5 on Interstate 80.
According to the report filed by the sheriff’s department, Hartz was having a dispute with his Lyft driver parked on the shoulder of the road. He had exited the vehicle, was unsteady and smelled of alcohol.
A post-arrest breath test showed that Hartz had a blood-alcohol content of 0.199, according to the report filed with the court.
Hartz pleaded guilty and was fined $105.
Lambert Dean Hutchison, 47, of Des Moines, was charged Aug. 20 with driving while his license is revoked. He was arrested by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department about 5:49 p.m. Aug. 19 on Interstate 80 at mile marker 209, according to a report filed by the sheriff’s department.
Hutchison’s license is revoked from April 8, 2025 to April 7, 2026, according to the court document.
