MARENGO — Alex Layden Lee Shondel, 21, of Corydon, was charged Sept. 15 in Iowa County District Court with eluding law enforcement, a Class D felony.
According to a report filed by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, Shondel was driving a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Interstate 80 Sept. 12 about 5:52 p.m. and attempted to elude law enforcement, driving up to 150 miles per hour during a 17-minute pursuit.
Shondel eventually left the interstate at exit 237, stopped and was arrested. He was released on $5,000 bond.
Shondel was also cited for reckless driving, for speeding, for making improper lane changes and for improperly overtaking on the right.
Chad R. Hollingsworth, 53, of Omaha, Nebraska, was charged Sept. 16 with control of a firearm by a felon, possession of marijuana, second offense, and carrying a dangerous weapon while ineligible to do so.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Hollingsworth was stopped on I-80, at mile marker 209, Sept. 15, about 6:54 p.m. for having no plates and for driving 76 miles per hour in a 75 mph zone.
According to a report filed with the court, a trooper found a temporary tag in the back seat, but it had expired Aug. 18.
The trooper also found a glass container with raw marijuana in the center console and a black Taurus G3 9 mm handgun in the rear passenger floor. Hollingsworth has a felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance from October 2023, according to the report.
Hollingsworth was also cited for operation of a vehicle without a registration card or plate. He was held on $7,000 bond.
Rene Ramos, 22, of Elkhart, was charged Sept. 12 with driving denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. Williamsburg police stopped Ramos Sept. 11 about 9:38 p.m. on the Highway 149 north ramp to I-80 east.
Jeremiah David Parr, 46, of Marengo, was charged Sept. 15 with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. According to the criminal complaint, the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Parr in the 1800 block of Benton-Iowa Rd. about 4:19 p.m. Sept. 13.
Nickolas D. Neel, 38, of Coralville, was charged Sept. 15, with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department cited Neel Sept. 9 about 11:48 a.m. on 41st Avenue. Neel was also cited for failure to maintain control.
Alysia Marie West, 48, of Millersburg, was charged Sept. 12 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense, for a collision that occurred in April.
According to a report filed by the Iowa State Patrol, West was westbound on I-80 about 5:56 April 3 when, at mile marker 218.7, Roger Allen Evans entered the roadway from the shoulder, crossed both lanes to the median shoulder where West, who was taking evasive action, collided with him.
West admitted to smoking marijuana that morning, according to the report filed with the court, but refused to take a sobriety test.
Department of Transportation records indicted that West didn’t have a valid license.
A search warrant was issued for blood and urine samples which showed the presence of methamphetamine, amphetamine and THC, the report said.
West was released on $1,000 bond Sept. 18.
Kevin Ray Lingenfelter, 46, of Ankeny, was charged Sept.. 15 with OWI second offense. According to a report filed by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, Lingenfelter was parked at the intersection of Johnson-Iowa Rd. and Highway 6 about 4:22 p.m. Sept. 13 with the vehicle running. He was in the driver’s seat and had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and seemed confused, according to the sheriff’s report.
A breath test set Lingenfelter’s blood alcohol content at 0.348. An empty bottle of vodka was found in the back seat, according to the report filed with the court.
Lingenfelter was also cited for not having a valid driver's license and for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Sierra Jane Lasser-Webb, 22, of Ladora, was charged Sept. 15 with making a false report. According to the criminal complaint, Lasser-Webb called 911 about 9:49 p.m. Sept. 12 and said she needed help. She later admitted to the dispatcher that the call was a prank, the complaint says.
