MARENGO — Mark C. Rausch, 76, of South English, was charged Sept. 21 with driving while barred.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Rausch about 9:20 a.m. at East Clark and Elm Streets in North English. According to the criminal complaint filed with the court, Rausch is barred from driving until June 12, 2027 and is supposed to have an ignition interlock installed in vehicles he drives, but the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving Sept. 21 didn’t have one.
Rausch was cited for operating a vehicle without an interlock.
Charles Jason Sparlin, a fugitive from justice, was picked up by the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department Sept. 22.
Sparlin was wanted for probation violation in Arizona, according to the report filed with the court. Sparlin was on probation for charges filed Aug. 16, 2020 for prisoner assault with bodily fluids, a sixth degree felony; disorderly conduct, first degree; and criminal damage, second degree.
Rodney Lee Exline, 59, of Homestead, was charged Sept. 22 with possession of marijuana, first offense, and interfering with official acts with bodily injury.
According to the criminal complaint, Exline stood between sheriff’s deputies and a suicidal subject while there was an unsecured, loaded firearm on the scene about 7:43 p.m. Sept. 21 at 1056 W. Ave. in Norway.
Exline was hostile and confrontational, according to the report filed with the court, and was warned several times before he was arrested.
Exline resisted arrest, the report said, and Deputy Matt Clinton sustained a minor abrasion to his left elbow and minor pain. Clinton did not seek medical attention.
Exline had a THC vape in his pocket, the court document says.
Brandon E. Taylor, 25, of Aurora, Illinois was charged Sept. 22 with possession of marijuana, first offense.
Williamsburg police found Taylor in a vehicle parked behind Williamsburg Outlets mall about 3 a.m. Sept. 21, according to a report filed with the court. The car was running and the daytime running lamps were on, the report says.
Police smelled marijuana, and Taylor said he had consumed marijuana earlier the previous day. Police found no marijuana in the vehicle, but Taylor had a THC vape pen on his person, the report said.
