MARENGO — Anthony Reyne Wetzel, of Muscatine, was charged Oct. 16 in Iowa County District Court with driving while barred in an incident that occurred Sept. 18.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the court, a deputy stopped Wetzel because the vehicle he was driving had a severely damaged windshield. The deputy found a 30-pack of Busch Light beer in the passenger floor board, the complaint says. The carton was open and one beer was missing.
The deputy also found four Fireball whiskey shooter bottles in the vehicle, the court document says.
Wetzel was barred from driving for being a habitual offender at the time, court documents say.
Wetzel was also charged with possession or purchase of alcohol under the age of 18.
Karen Darlene Click, 78, of Marengo, was charged Oct. 18 with assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts and public intoxication following an incident at Ambie’s Bar in Marengo Oct. 18 about 1 p.m.
According to court documents, Marengo Police Officer Heath Jepson went into the bar at 194 E. Washington St. in Marengo to ask Click to move her vehicle because of a citywide event.
Click was under the influence of alcohol and yelled that she wouldn’t comply, the criminal complaint filed with the court says. Click got off the bar stool, bumped Jepson aside with her shoulder, striking him with a cane in the left boot area, the court document says.
Jepson followed Click outside to take her into custody for assault on a peace officer and interference. She pulled her arms away, screamed and grabbed a door handle on a parked car for leverage, the criminal complaint says.
Click performed poorly on a sobriety test and admitted to drinking two vodkas at the bar and taking medication, the report says.
Amber Renee Wilson, 39, of Mount Pleasant, was charged Oct. 20 with driving while her license is denied, suspended, canceled or evoked.
Williamsburg police stopped Wilson about 11:39 p.m. Oct. 19 on Iowa Highway 149.
Timothy Lawrence Johnston, 62, of Cedar Rapids, was charged Oct. 15 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department says Johnston showed signs of intoxication at an event in Amana and was warned not to drive. Deputies later saw him driving in a parking lot at 811 27th Ave. in Amana.
Johnston admitted to drinking, according to a document filed with the court, and deputies found an empty 1.7-ounce Fireball bottle in the vehicle. Johnston refused to take sobriety tests or have his breath tested, court document say.
Robert Duane Goodwin, 25, of North English, was charged Oct. 16 with theft in the fifth degree.
According to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department, Goodwin was employed by Casey’s at 504 S. Main St. in North English, and between Sept. 24 and Oct. 7 put money on a Green Dot Visa card eight times without paying for it.
The shortage amounted to about $167.65, the criminal complaint says.
