MARENGO — A 16 year old girl from North English was charged Nov. 2 in Iowa County District Court with arson in the first degree, a Class B felony, after allegedly setting fire to a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom next to the nurse’s state at Williamsburg High School.
The incident occurred about 11:05 a.m. Oct. 23, according to Williamsburg police.
Charles Logan Grimm, 21, of Williamsburg was charged Nov. 4 with theft in the second degree and lottery fraud, both Class D felonies.
Williamsburg police say that Grimm printed lottery tickets he didn’t pay for while working for Casey’s at 602 S. Highland between Aug. 25 and Oct. 4. Casey’s estimated the loss at $1,639.
Iowa Lottery said Grimm was given $356 for turning in winning tickets, according to a report filed with the court.
Kaitlyn Ellen Reynolds, 34, of Luzerne, was charged Oct. 29 with driving while her license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
Marengo police stopped Reynolds about 2:07 p.m. Oct. 26 on Miller Street, according to a report filed with the court.
Savannah Elise Lee, 18, of West Des Moines, was charged Nov. 3 with driving while her license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked.
Williamsburg police stopped Lee about 4:16 a.m. Nov. 3 on the ramp from Interstate 80 to Iowa Highway 149, according to the criminal complaint filed with the court.
Kenyon Michael Weber, 32, of Harper, was charged Nov. 1 with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, second offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Weber about 12:32 a.m. Nov. 1 after he failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, a court document says. The deputy saw signs of intoxication, the report says.
Weber refused to take sobriety tests and breath tests, according to the deputy.
Karen Marie Pester, 45, of Ottumwa, was charged Nov. 2 with possession of marijuana, first offense, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense, and possession of methamphetamine, first offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Pester about 8:24 p.m. Nov. 11 at mile marker 215 of Interstate 80 after finding that the registered owner of the car — later confirmed to be Pester — did not have a driver’s license, a report filed with the court says.
A tin tray of marijuana and a syringe with marijuana were in plain view, according to the deputy. Pester also had a glass pipe in her pocket, meth in her purse, marijuana wax, a rubber pipe, a marijuana grinder and other paraphernalia, the criminal complaint says.
Pester failed a drug influence evaluation but refused to provide a urine sample, the complaint says.
Pester was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a valid license.
Jazmin Hogan was charged Oct. 30 with compulsory violation, first offense for allegedly failing to cause a child to attend Williamsburg High School.
Maninder Singh, 38, of Reno, Nevada, was charged Nov. 3 with unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the court, two people had reported Singh driving a Freightliner tractor-trailer erratically. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Singh about 6:04 p.m. Nov. 2 at mile marker 227 on Interstate 80.
A deputy found 15 types of prescription drugs in blister packs in the truck, according to the report filed with the court. Singh didn’t produce any prescriptions for the drugs, the report says.
