MARENGO — Christopher Lee Mellor, 42, of Wilmington, Ohio was charged Jan. 5 in Iowa County District Court with failure to affix a drug stamp, possession of marijuana, first offense, and carrying a dangerous weapon while ineligible to do so.
The Iowa State Patrol stopped Mellor about 9:36 p.m. Dec. 29 on the mile 216 off ramp of Interstate 80 because of a non-working taillight on the vehicle he was driving. The trooper noticed a THC vape and smelled marijuana, according to the criminal complaint filed with the court.
The trooper found multiple containers of raw marijuana in baggies in the front passenger seat in the amount of 57.28 grams, the court report says. An unloaded firearm and ammunition were found in a range bag in the trunk.
Mellor was held on $7,000 bond. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. A non-jury trial is set for May 5.
Robert Fanklin Seastrand III, 46, of Iowa City, was charged with driving while his license is denied, suspended, canceled or revoked. Williamsburg police stopped Seastrand about 1 a.m. Jan. 3 on Wilson St.
Elliott Scott White, 31, of South Amana, was charged Jan. 4 with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, first offense, and possession of marijuana, first offense.
Williamsburg police stopped White on P Avenue just after midnight Jan. 4 after seeing him cross the fog line three times.
An officer found empty Busch Light cans in the back seat, according to a report filed with the court, and smelled alcohol in the cab of the truck. The officer noticed signs of intoxication, the criminal complaint says.
A field sobriety test showed measurable impairment, according to the officer. A breath test recorded a blood-alcohol content of 0.163%.
The officer found a THC vape pen on White’s person and a baggie containing a substance consistent with marijuana, the court document says.
A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 24.
White was also charged with failure to provide proof of financial liability.
Nicole Marie Daniels, 34, Savanna, Illinois, was charged Jan. 3 with possession of marijuana, first offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Daniels for speeding about 8:40 a.m. Jan. 3 at mile marker 207 on Interstate 80. The deputy smelled marijuana, and Daniels provided a tray with marijuana shake and a container with marijuana bud, the report filed with the court says.
Daniels was also cited for speeding.
Cameron S. Koeller, 47, of Savanna, Illinois, was charged with possession of marijuana, first offense, in the same incident. Koeller was a passenger in the car driven by Daniels, the court report says.
A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 19.
Ali Rasheed Muhammad, 28, of West Des Moines, was charged Jan. 4 with possession of marijuana, second offense.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department stopped Muhammad about 4:04 p.m. Jan. 4 at the 221 mile marker of I-80 after a registration check showed the owner of the car had no valid driver’s license in Iowa, a complaint filed with the court says.
A deputy smelled marijuana in the car, and Muhammad admitted to having a blunt under the seat and marijuana on the floor board of the front passenger seat, the court document says.
Muhammad was also charged with having no valid driver’s license.
Pursuant to a plea agreement, a charge of assault on people in certain occupations against Karen D. Click was dismissed Dec. 17. A charge of public intoxication was dismissed Dec. 18 in a plea agreement.
The court dismissed a charge of violation of a no contact order against Carolyn Jean Wolfer Jan. 5.
A charge of possession of alcohol by a person under 18 against Reyne Wetzel Anthony was dismissed by the court Jan. 5.
An ATV highway violation against Raymond Michael Oehl was dismissed Jan. 5. The court also dismissed an open container violation and a proof of liability charge in a plea agreement in which Oehl pleaded guilty to OWI, second offense.
In a plea agreement, the court dismissed an hours of service violation against Abdulloh Abdullajonov Dec. 23.
