Introducing bills in support of veterans

Serving our veterans is one of my highest honors in Congress. I introduced two important bills to ensure our heroes receive the care and support they’ve earned.
The Veterans SPORT Act expands VA coverage to include adaptive prostheses and recreational devices. These devices help veterans stay active and engaged in sports and recreation — critical tools for healing both body and mind.
I also introduced the Providing Veterans Essential Medications Act to ensure that state-run veterans' homes are reimbursed for costly medications, helping them continue to provide the high-quality care our aging veterans deserve.
Protecting our military installations is equally important. Rock Island Arsenal is a vital national defense asset and an economic anchor for the Quad Cities. When reports surfaced about a possible reduction in force, I immediately called on Army leadership to protect this essential facility.
As a former Army doctor and Chair of the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Health, I understand the importance of keeping our military strong and ready.
I also had the privilege of attending the Joint Munitions Command change of command ceremony at Rock Island Arsenal, where we welcomed new leadership and reaffirmed our commitment to our war fighters.
As we continue to fight for those who served, I want to take a moment to honor World War II veteran Henry Langrehr, who recently passed away. Henry was the epitome of the Greatest Generation: humble, steadfast, courageous, and selfless.
It was my honor to recognize him on the House floor and to personally meet his grandniece at the University of Iowa ROTC Military Ball Saturday evening. I am joined by other veterans, Iowans and Americans in praying for his family as we reflect on his amazing legacy and service to America.
I wrote a letter urging U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll to protect the [Rock Island Arsenal] military site after reports emerged of potential reductions in force.
Reauthorizing President Donald J. Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is critical for every Iowan. Working moms, families, farmers, and small businesses all face record tax hikes if Congress doesn’t act. I’ll keep fighting to extend these tax cuts and ensure Iowans keep more of what they earn.
It was great to join Quad Cities and U.S. Chamber in Davenport to talk about protecting small businesses from devastating tax hikes and subsequent job losses. In Congress, I’ll keep fighting to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and support the workers, families, and job creators who power Iowa’s economy.
Honored to attend the Joint Munitions Command change of command ceremony at Rock Island Arsenal. Thank you BG Anderson for your leadership — welcome BG Duncan. Rock Island Arsenal remains committed to supporting our war fighters and our Army stands ready, lethal, and reliable.
Enjoyed spending a morning in Newton at the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. Indoors and outdoors both kids and adults were active and off “screens.”
