Iowa County Community Foundation awards $144,000 grants

PARNELL — The Iowa County Community Foundation announced awards of more than $144,200 to 18 projects at Parnell City Hall last month.
Amana Heritage Society received $9,393 to install a security system at the Homestead Folk Art Museum.
Iowa County Genealogical Society received $9,611 for technology upgrades, $9,611, and the Iowa County Historical Society received $4,161 for climate-controlled storage.
The City of Millersburg was awarded $1,714 for administration and community projects. The City of Parnell will make improvements to its city hall and a playground with its grand award of $12,500.
The Foundation awarded the City of Williamsburg $830 to update its slide and shade cover at the Aquatic Center.
Ladora Development Committee received $13,389 for its playground, and North English Benefited Fired District received $7,500 for the North English City Park ball shack.
The Foundation gave the City of Millersburg $11,700 for its park committee and city ball field. Parents and Leaders for Students received $11,000 for inclusive playground equipment.
Williamsburg Community Child Care will its $4,500 grant for KIND Care quality improvement.
In the areas of environment and animal welfare, the City of North English will use its grant of $14,781 for a Smoky Row Trail pedestrian bridge.
Save Haven of Iowa County will use its $5,000 award for new dog kennels.
The Iowa County Board of Supervisors EMS received $7,560 for video laryngoscopes.
Families Helping Families of Iowa was awarded $2,500 to improve life for children in foster care.
The North English Community Center received $13,075 for a food pantry room, and Rural Employment Alternatives will use its $10,000 award to purchase a van.
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee of volunteers from Iowa County: Paulette Dietrich, Erin Eichhorn, Ellie Garringer, Trenton Forrest, Natasha Hauschilt, Ann Krakow and Bonnie Romine.
Grants are awarded through ICCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service.
Grant applicants must be a 501(c) (3) designated organization or government entity serving Iowa County in order to be considered for funding.
