The National Farmers Union Convention was held in Scottsdale, Arizona March 10-13. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who is an Iowa Farmers Union member, was one of the speakers at the conference which hosted 185 state delegates. Most of the convention was devoted to discussing and voting on policy amendments. Iowa's delegation successfully lobbied the convention floor to adopt several policies, such as compensating farmers for permanent creek and river buffer strips. Next year's convention will be in Oklahoma City. (Submitted photo)
