The Iowa Valley boys baseball team traveled to Keota on Monday, May 22 to square off against the Eagles (3-2).
“Keota is great opponent and we knew coming into the game it was going to be a tough one,” said Iowa Valley Coach Sam Rohovit.
The Keota bats were hot early putting up three runs in the first and four more in the second to take a 7–2 lead after two played on the way to a 12-4 final. “You can’t give up 11 walks and 4 errors and expect to win the game,” continued Rohovit.
The Tigers (1-1) scored twice in the second and twice in the fourth. Rohovit said, “Keota played incredible defense like they’re known to do and that was the difference. They played solid D and we did not.”
Iowa Valley’s Caden Knapp had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Tigers at the plate. Beau Long and Caleb Haack split the pitching duties. Long went for five innings with 4 strike outs and Haack pitched two innings with five K’s.
