IOWA VALLEY AT BGM
Iowa Valley traveled to Brooklyn on Monday, June 12 to take on conference foe BGM. Bears pitcher Mason Maschmann was waiting with a complete-game shutout, giving up five hits, and three walks to go along with five strikeouts and zero runs against. BGM won 4-0.
Iowa Valley (4-6) got hits out of Nolan Kriegel, Mason Hoyt, Layne Peska, Garrett Hoyt and Chance Hoyt but couldn’t push any runs across the plate. BGM (6-7) scored one run in the first, one in the third and two in the fourth on four hits to seal the victory.
Tiger pitcher Caleb Haack struck out eight on the day.
COLFAX-MINGO AT IOWA VALLEY
Early scoring built a lead for Colfax-Mingo last Wednesday at Iowa Valley that the Tigers couldn’t overcome as the Tigerhawks (6-8) went home with a 9-3 win.
C-M scored two in the first, two more in the second and four in the third to take what turned out to be too much for Iowa Valley (4-7) to get past. The Tigerhawks added one more in the fifth. IV scoring came in the bottom of the third as it put two across the plate and added a closing score in the seventh.
Beau Long and Owen Bral teamed up on the mound for the Tigers giving up the nine runs on 12 hits and three walks while earning 11 strikeouts. Caleb Haack lead the Tigers with three hits and an RBI single and teammate Caden Knapp added two hits of his own.
KEOTA AT IOWA VALLEY
Iowa Valley avenged an early season 12-4 loss to Keota by topping the Eagles 4-0 in Marengo Friday night.
The teams battled for four scoreless innings before the Tigers (5-7) got its bats going in the bottom of the fifth. A three run IV fifth and a one run sixth proved to be to much for Keota (9-8) to overcome.
Iowa Valley had 10 hits, including two each from Caden Knapp, Layne Peska and Chance Hoyt and struck out just four times as a team. Tiger pitchers Caden Knapp and Nolan Kriegel teamed up to pitch a solid four hit game with nine strike outs.
