The Iowa Valley girls and boys golf teams hit the links Thursday in beautiful conditions at the Marengo Golf Club. The Tigers hosted Colfax – Mingo, Sigourney and BGM in the quad.
The girls finished just four shots back to finish second behind Colfax-Mingo. Sigourney was a distant third and BGM wasn’t able to put a full team on the course so there was no team score recorded.
Despite the small squad, BGM’s Aurelia Roudabush took medalist honors by shooting a 44. Charlotte Donahue of Colfax shot 52 to take second just one stroke ahead of Iowa Valley’s Kennady Rathjen’s 53.
Rounding out the Iowa Valley contingent was Brooklyn Kilgard (54), Hannah Leonard (55), Izzy Kriegel (60) and Jordan Loffer (62).
On the boy’s side, Sigourney’s team score of 167 was 5 better than BGM. Iowa Valley finished third at 191 followed by Colfax – Mingo with a team score of 210.
Isaac Bruns of Sigourney shot a three over 38 to claim medalist honors. Sigourney took three of the top five spots.
The Tigers top finisher was Owen Bral carding an eight over 43, followed closely by Beau Long and his 44. Quinn Miller (52) and Joshua Hocamp (52) finished out the scoring while Justin Barnes closed with a 54.
On Friday, the Iowa Valley boys hit the course again hosting the Tiger Tourney. Despite slashing 11 strokes off the previous day’s scoring, the IV boys finished the day in fifth place.
Montezuma was the team to beat on this day posting a 147 with four of the top six lowest scores leading to a 15 shot advantage over second place Keota. HLV shot 173 as a team to take the bronze position followed by Lynnville-Sully, Iowa Valley and Lone Tree.
Beau Long improved over Thursday’s score by 5 strokes finishing with a four over 39, a fourth place overall finish and IV’s lowest score of the day.
A solid 43 from Quinn Miller, Owen Bral’s 47 and Justin Barnes (51) completed the IV scoring. Dillin Daly (52) and Joshua Hocamp (57) rounded out the IV squad.
HLV’s Camden Kennebeck carded a 39 to lead the way for the Warriors. Add Payton Roth’s 40, Ethan Licht’s 46 and Ben Root’s 48 to get the final tally. Devon Weisskopf (49) and Luke Butler (63) completed the HLV round.
