Iowa Valley 2 – Montezuma 4
Iowa Valley put two runs across plate in the bottom of the first inning before being held scoreless the rest of the game. Despite the lack of scoring for the Tigers (5-5), the defense held tough giving up only one Bravette run in the first six innings. Unfortunately, it was a seven-inning game. Montezuma (4-5) came alive in the seventh with three runs to steal a 4-2 win.
IV’s Dakota Pedersen had two hits and stolen base and Maddie Ray posted two hits and an RBI triple to lead the Tigers. Lydia Kriegel pitched all seven innings, notching five strike outs and giving up three hits and four runs.
Iowa Valley 5 – HLV 8
Iowa Valley (5-6) took a solid 4-1 lead into the sixth inning at HLV Wednesday before the Warriors exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers added one more in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as HLV (4-4) came away with the 8-5 win.
HLV’s Ema Roberts had two hits and an RBI on the evening and teammate Addy Shull added two hits and two RBIs. Iowa Valley top hitters included Maddie Ray with two hits and Izzy Kriegel who knocked in three RBIs.
The Tigers’ Lydia Kriegel went the distance on the mound striking out eight and giving up five hits. HLV’s pitching was handled by Hailey Jack who earned with the win with 4 strikeouts and allowing seven hits.
Iowa Valley 6 – North Mahaska 11
After falling behind 2-1 heading into the third inning, Iowa Valley (5-7) rallied for five runs in the top of the inning to take a 6-2 lead. The lead, however, was short-lived as North Mahaska (6-6) also put up five runs in their half of the third to retake a 1-point lead. The Warhawks added two more runs in the fifth and a final two runs in the sixth while holding Iowa Valley scoreless for the rest of the game. North Mahaska ended the game on top 11-6.
Iowa Valley 10 – Lynnville-Sully 9
Friday seemed like a good day to get back on the winning track as Iowa Valley (6-7) took on the visiting Hawks from Lynnville-Sully (2-10). Lynnville came to play plating two runs in the first and another in the third to keep it tied at the end of three.
The Tigers pulled away, temporarily, with three runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to take an 8-5 lead. The Hawks tied it up in the seventh to force an extra frame. L-S scored one in the top of the eighth but the home-team Tigers closed the door with a two run inning to take the 10 -9 win.
IV’s Lydia Kriegel again went the distance pitching seven strikeouts while giving up 10 hits.
