IOWA VALLEY AT TRI-COUNTY
Iowa Valley hit the road Monday, June 19 to face a Tri-County bunch that was ready to play. The Trojans (8-7) scored two in the first, five in the second and four in the fourth to wrap it up after five innings with an 11-1 win.
Iowa Valley (9-11) had a tough day at the plate. The Tigers did score a run in the top of the fifth, but did so with no hits, instead taking advantage of eight walks. Pitching duties for the Tigers was split between Lydia Kriegel and Dakota Pedersen who combined to give up 11 hits, one walk and one strikeout.
BELLE PLAINE AT IOWA VALLEY
Trying to cleanse the palate after a tough night Monday, Iowa Valley returned home Wednesday to face Belle Plaine. A little back-and-forth scoring resulted in a 13-7 Tiger victory and season sweep of the Plainsmen.
Iowa Valley (10-11) answered a first inning Plainsmen run with four of its own. Belle Plaine (2-15) came right back in the second with four to take a 5-4 lead, but it was short-lived. The Tigers ran two more across the plate in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless third, the Plainsmen tied it again in the fourth before Iowa Valley broke it open. The Tigers scored three in fourth and four more in the fifth to seal the deal.
Iowa Valley had 14 hits, including a home run from Izzy Kriegel, and struck out four times. Belle Plaine knocked eight hits and struck out five times. Lydia Kriegel and Dakota Pedersen again split the Tiger pitching duties. Izzy Sankot went the distance on the mound for Belle Plaine.
IOWA VALLEY AT ENGLISH VALLEYS
Iowa Valley finished off an up and down week on a down note Friday as they traveled to North English to face the Bears of English Valleys. EV won the contest 7-1.
English Valleys (15-6) did all its scoring early. The Bears scored three in the first, three in the second and added an insurance run in the third. Iowa Valley (10-12) got on the board with a fifth inning run.
