Iowa Valley to recognize alumni Saturday

MARENGO — The Iowa Valley Alumni Association will recognize its 2025 Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Service Recipients Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 at the Iowa Valley High School Auditorium.
The Alumni Association recognized its first award winners last year: Rick Wanamaker, class of 1966, was named Distinguished Alumni, and Charles R. “Bob“ Dillin, class of 1936, was recognized posthumously with the Outstanding Service Award.
This year’s Distinguished Alumni Awards will be presented to Major General James E. Freeze, Class of 1949; Dr. James Lindenmeyer, Class of 1969; and Connie (Vogt) Gougler, Class of 1988.
The Outstanding Service Award will be given to Garth Grafft, Terry Housman, Chuck Kyte, and Scott Hardie.
Nomination forms for next year’s awards should be submitted by May 1, 2026. Submission forms are available via Facebook or by contacting ivalumni@ivcsd.org or calling Janet Behrens at 618-322-3249.
The Iowa Valley music department will host a breakfast in the Iowa Valley High School cafeteria from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday for a donation. Residents and visitors will be able to tour the school and watch a presentation showing 100 years of changes to the Iowa Valley Junior/Senior High School.
The Homecoming parade begins at 2:30 Friday, Sept. 19 and will circle the Marengo square. The Homecoming queen and king will be crowned following the parade.
King Candidates are Caleb Achey, Owen Ary, Dillin Dally, Josh Read and Dallas Sherman.
Queen candidates are Hailey Dietze, Myla Frimml, Clara Fry, Kathryn Kilgard and Michaela Schachtlie.
