DES MOINES — An incredible season and state tournament run regardless of the result in the final.
Iowa Valley’s Chance Hoyt finished runner-up in the Class 1A 150-pound bracket Saturday in the finals session of the 2026 Iowa High School Athletic Association Boys State Wrestling Tournament at Casey’s Center in Des Moines.
Top-seed Steve Brandenburg of Lake Mills pinned Hoyt late in the first period for the win.
After finishing fifth last season, Hoyt is now a state finalist and runner-up to end his junior season. Hoyt finishes with a record of 48-6.
With just three qualifiers, Iowa Valley finished 13th in the team race with 50.5 points.
