Iowa Woodland Owners Association plan field day

GRINNELL — The Iowa Woodland Owners Association Fall Field Day, set for Thursday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to the general public.
The annual event showcases woodlands management practices and forestry improvement funding information for forest improvement and management practices provided by Iowa Deparment of Natural Resources District Foresters and other forestry experts.
The event will take place at 223 375th Ave., Grinnell, and does include a noon meal. Register by contacting Iowa State University Poweshiek County Extension and Outreach at 641-623-5188. Registration fee is $20. Bring a lawn chair.
Founded in 1987, the Iowa Woodland Owners Association is a private nonprofit organization that welcomes anyone with an interest in woodlands to join its membership ranks, the group said in a press release.
IWOA is committed to advancing the interests of woodland owners, developing public appreciation for their importance, encouraging wise use and management of woodlands and related resources in Iowa and promoting both conservation of natural resources as well as the practice of sustainable forestry, the press release says.
