It’s Fair week in Marengo

MARENGO — The Iowa County Fairgrounds has become busy this week as campers arrive, clubs set up booths and exhibitors prepare animals and projects.
The FFA dog show kicked off the week this afternoon.
Tuesday’s schedule includes the judging of 4-H clothing at St. Mary’s in Williamsburg and open class check-in at the fairgrounds in Marengo from 9-11 a.m.
Open class judging will begin at noon.
Educational presentations will begin a 9 a.m. Wednesday.
From noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, exhibitors will check in dairy cattle and goats. Check-in for rabbits and poultry is set for 1:30-2:30 p.m., and meat goats and sheep will be checked in from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
Beef check-in is 3:30-5 p.m., and horse check-in is 4-5 p.m.
Pee Wee bucket and bottle calf check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Zentmire Hall will be open from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday for viewing of 4-H exhibits.
Miss and Mister Iowa County and Little Mister and Little Miss will be crowned at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The Trailblazers will host the Iowa County Fair Luau at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night followed by Slip-N-Slide kickball at 8 p.m., hosted by the Youth Council.
On Thursday, the Iowa County Youth Council will raise the flag at 9 a.m. The rabbit show and dairy goat and dairy cattle show will begin at 9 a.m.
Zentmire Hall will be open 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
At 10 a.m. Thursday, Kinze Award Contest judging begins. The meat goat show will begin at 10 a.m. followed by markets goats. Breeding sheep will be followed by market sheep.
The poultry show begins at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Mater Gardeners will have a daily demonstration at 3 p.m., and the Parnell Peppers will host a cornhole tournament.
An Iowa County Fair meal, hosted by the Iowa County Fair Board, begins at 5 p.m.
The Pee Wee bucket bottle show begins at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The Iowa County Fair continues Friday, July 12, with the swine show at 9 a.m. followed by the Pee Wee Swine Show.
Zentmire Hall will be open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
The halter and performance horse show begins at 11 a.m. Livestock judging begins at 1:30 p.m.
H & H Fun Rides will have children’s activities from 2-8 p.m.
Master Gardeners will give a daily demonstration at 3 p.m.
The 4-H and FFA bucket and bottle calf show begins at 3:30 p.m.
Antique tractors will line the track beginning at 4 p.m., and a mullet contest is set for 5 p.m. at Crossroads.
The Pee Wee bottle lamb and goat show begins at 6:30 p.m.
The fair day will end with a music from Sam Roberts from 7-10 p.m.
Saturday morning, after the flag raising at 9 a.m., the breeding beef show begins, followed by the carcass results and market beef show.
At noon Saturday, the Iowa County Farm Bureau will host a watermelon feed.
Children from 4-11 years of age may sign up for the kiddie pedal pull at 1 p.m. The contest begins at 1:30 p.m. Children younger than 4 may pull for fun.
H & H Fun Rides will be open from 2-8 p.m.
At 3 p.m., the 4-H and FFA fun and games horse show begins.
The Conservation Station Trailer will be open from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. At 4 p.m., visitors can test their skills on a mechanical bull.
The Ladora Saddle Club will sponsor an ice cream social at 4 p.m. Saturday, and antique tractors can be viewed at the track.
The Pee Wee horse show begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, and all-around showmanship begins at 6:30 p.m.
The fair concludes Sunday, July 14, with an appreciation breakfast at 9 a.m.
The Youth Council will sponsor Ag Olympics at 11 a.m.
The Champion Salute, with senior awards, 4-H scholarships, Kinze awards, PCS and SEE awards, communication awards and livestock awards will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the livestock sale at 3 p.m.
