MARENGO — Jingle Around the Square begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 in Marengo. That’s when visitors can pick up their Jingle maps at City Hall on the square.
But long before evening, events will entice visitors throughout town.
At 8 a.m., Iowa Valley Elementary School, 151 E. May St., will host Breakfast with Santa.
From 4-7 p.m., Santa will visit with diners at the Santa Supper at American Legion Post 76, at 1669 Court Ave. in Marengo.
Hosted by the Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion, the Santa Supper will consist of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, vegetables and a roll. The bar will be open.
Dine in, carry out, and in-town delivery are all available. The cost is $10.
The Snow Globe Dancers from Leanne’s School of Dance will perform at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., and Double Creek Carriage Company of Ladora will give carriage rides from 5-7 p.m.
Visitors can sip cocoa, visit with Santa and The Grinch and explore businesses around the square while looking for hidden Nutcrackers.
The lighted Christmas parade begins at 6:45 p.m. No registration is required. Participants simply line up and follow the leader around the parade route.
Meanwhile, at the Iowa County Fairgrounds, the Miracles on Marion light display is open from 6-9 p.m. The display is also open Friday, Dec. 5.
