Joiner is being recognized for several initiatives he has led at UnityPoint Health, including spearheading the development of a Cultural Resource Guide aimed at improving interactions between team members and patients from various backgrounds; acting to align UnityPoint Health’s affinity-based employee networks across the system; helping to strike a partnership with a national bank to boost access to healthcare careers for members of underrepresented groups; and establishing a program that increased the number of diverse suppliers with whom UnityPoint Health contracts by 10%
The Modern Healthcare Diversity Leader award is the latest in a series of recognitions Joiner has received this year, said UnityPoint. He also was named to Becker’s Healthcare Black Healthcare Leaders to Know and Hospital and Health System Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officers to Know lists.
