We all know that in the 8-player football game offensive stats are going to be higher and points are going to be scored at a higher rate.
With that said, very few have been able to match the productivity of Iowa Valley’s Nolan Kriegel the past two seasons.
Sixty total touchdowns a year ago seemed like a hard feat to top this season, but Kriegel did it, doing so without playing in a majority of fourth quarters this regular season.
Kriegel finished with a state-leading 61 total TDs this season, and along with his impact on team success, the Tigers’ junior has been selected as this year’s Hometown Current area football player of the year.
Of those 61 TDs, Kriegel ran for 43, threw 13 through the air, caught two, returned an interception for a score and added two kick return TDs.
Iowa Valley finished the season 10-1, advancing to the 8-player quarterfinals.
Kriegel finished with 1,944 rushing yards on an impressive 10.7 yards per carry to go along with 28 total tackles defensively.
With seven area teams, five in 8-player and two in the traditional 11-player game, other factors were also considered when making selections for this season’s all-area team.
Several players were worthy of selections on both sides, but players were only chosen on one side of the ball.
Here is your 2025 Hometown Current area football team.
