MARENGO — Fireside Winery is sponsoring a fundraiser next month for Hope for All, a Compass Memorial Healthcare financial program.
Hope for All began in October 2016 to financially help patients who had been diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2017, the program expanded to help patients with any type of cancer.
Program recipients do not have to be current patients of Compass Memorial, but they do need to live in the hospital’s service area.
Fireside has been putting on fundraisers for the program for a few years, said Fireside Events Coordinator Kendall Watson.
Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17 from 6-9 p.m. at the winery, the Hope for All Ladies Night includes games, raffles, local speakers and wine for a $20 fee. Half of each ticket price will be donated to Hope for All.
A winner of the Pink Ribbon Raffle will be drawn that night. The raffle is not exclusive to the event, and the winner does not have to be present. Raffle tickets are available at Compass Memorial, Fireside Winery and at community events.
The raffle prize is $1,000.
“Obviously we want to help a local health care business,” said Watson. “We have many Compass employees come out here. It’s nice to have that [sense of] community.”
The event won’t have vendors this year, but it will include door prizes from local businesses.
Bare Skin Bar of Williamsburg will offer women beauty and skin care advice, and Hills Bank will discuss financial topics, things Fireside thought women might want more information about.
It’s a regular ladies’ night out, said Watson. “They come out, get a glass of wine. They can dress up, show up in work clothes.”
Registration is required. The Fireside Winery website, firesidewinery.com, and the Fireside Winery Facebook page have links for tickets.
“We’ll be putting some fliers up in the community both for the community event and the pink ribbon raffle,” said Watson.
Fireside Winery is located at 1755 P Avenue south of Marengo.
