WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg library has activities and prizes planned this month and next for its summer reading program.
“We also have a life-size Candyland game set up in our children's area to play through the summer that encourages us to level up,” said Library Director Briana White. “Our Friends of the Library created and set up everything.”
Level Up, a theme that references video game play, kicked off at the Farmers Market June 6. Readers picked up their reading logs at the Williamsburg Public Library table on the Williamsburg square.
This week, The RARE Group in Iowa City showed live birds of prey at the library. Programs continue throughout the month and into July.
On June 20, at 1:30 p.m., the library will host Tower Topple to level up children’s play. They’ll see who can build the best tower and knock other towers down in bird or pig fashion, the library’s calendar says.

The yoga class uses chairs for support, making yoga accessible for everyone.

Children can level up their Lego skills July 3 from 1:30-3 p.m., making two- and three-dimensional creations that will be displayed at the library during the summer.
Children can level up their wardrobes with tie-dye at 1:30 p.m. July 10. Children should bring 100% white cotton T-shirts to dye.
A plant swap is set for Saturday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. Residents can bring plants to swap while learning how to repot plants to give them new life.
Raffle prizes will be awarded July 18 at 2 p.m. for the reading challenges on the summer reading BINGO card. Children do not need to be present to win.
