Lifelong cattleman runs for Supervisor
May. 23, 2024 5:26 pm
With the June 4 Primary approaching, I would like to share a little more about myself and my views.
I live and farm north of Marengo with my family. I grew up in Iowa County and have been a lifelong Republican and cattleman.
I feel extremely grateful to live in Iowa County. I lived in southern Iowa for a short period of time, and I truly take pride in the area we live in with excellent law enforcement and secondary road workers.
If I were elected, I would listen and use common sense on every decision I would make. My decisions would be based solely on what I believe is best for the county as I am not tied to any other supervisor or supervisor candidates.
I believe in less spending and tax savings but also realize some decisions end up costing taxpayers in the long run.
Cutting spending upfront to add tax later might look good short term, but doesn't work long term. I would never add a tax or approve more spending I didn't consider essential.
Some services, such as the ambulance service being privatized for example, would save costs but the services provided would be dictated by a private organization and not the county.
I would have to be convinced the services would not be downgraded and the costs to citizens needing the ambulance service wouldn't skyrocket before I would vote for essential services being cut.
I am 100% for less government and cost savings, but would need assurance that essential services being privatized would not leave Iowa County residents without the services they pay tax for and expect to be provided.
I urge you to know where the candidate(s) you support stand on this issue as well.
I'm not the loudest and biggest self-promoter, but I can guarantee I won't be afraid to take on any issue that arises with common sense and integrity.
I appreciate your time.
