Longhorns are wiffle ball World Series champs

WILLIAMSBURG — Low scores decided the winner of the 2023 Burg Wiffle Ball World Series Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the Williamsburg high school baseball diamond.

The Western Longhorns, comprised of Brady Rieder, Brock Rieder, Brock Cooling, Grady Rich and Charlie Foster, won the best-of-three series 2-0 over Wes Stoner, Albert Bamrick, Hayden Albaugh and Riker DeWitt of the Midwest Hawks.

Both games had final scores of 1-0, with Brock Rieder's walk-off homer in extra innings deciding game two.

Charlie Foster was named the series MVP. He pitched four innings of no-hit, shutout ball for the Longhorns, striking out eight.

The Longhorns also appeared in last year's BWB first World Series, losing to the Panthers.
