Maifest in the Amana Colonies

AMANA — The historical Amana Colonies will celebrate Maifest, the traditional German celebration of spring, May 4-5.
Maifest 2024 festivities kick off Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. with a “May the Fest Be With You” parade through the village of Amana.
Then head to the Festhalle for food and drink at the “World on Wheels — Food Truck Fair” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some food trucks will be selling from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday as well.
The Kinderplatz will be set up in the Peace Garden next to the Visitors Center. The Balloon Guy will be there, and Regan’s Face Painting will be offering free face painting from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The bar inside the Festhalle Barn will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The Festhalle Barn takes center stage for days two of music and dancing. All Natural, Blame Not the Bard and Swampland Jewels will provide music, and the Robert Thomas Dancenter Irish Performance Team will dance.
The Maipole Dancers will perform at various locations all weekend.
The Wine & Beer Walk will be happening all weekend. Visitors can purchase their 2024 Collectible Maifest pilsner glasses at the Visitors Center beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday and receive a free passport.
Stroll through Amana and try its famous wines and beers from 10 a.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday and have the passport stamped at each location.
Turn your passport in to any participating locations for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to Amana Colonies businesses.
