BROOKLYN — The subject of a search warrant by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team was found dead four hours after he fled officers Thursday.
According to a press release from the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office, officials executed a search warrant at an upstairs apartment at 142 Jackson St. in Brooklyn about 6 a.m. Dec. 18.
The tenant of the apartment, Skoky Gene Strohm, 34, fled to an attic area when the tactical team entered the apartment. He was located just after 10 a.m., dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the press release says.
Strohm was the target of an active narcotics investigation and had active warrants for his arrest at time of the search, according to the press release.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the death investigation.
