Mason 1st at home tournament
BELLE PLAINE — Mililley Mason placed first at the first Belle Plaine girls wrestling tournament over the weekend.
A transfer from Benton Community School District, Mason is wrestling junior varsity at 170 pounds until she’s eligible for varsity in January, said her coach, Brandon Heying.
Mason, 6-2, received a bye in the first round and won by forfeit against her second-round opponent, Victoria Rivera of Bettendorf.
In round three, Mason pinned Bettendorf’s Rylee Froh.
Lilly Wickwire, who has wrestled for Belle Plaine since junior high, did not wrestle Saturday because of health issues, Heying said.
Both girls are juniors.
