‘Meet The Roosevelts’ at the Amana Performing Arts Center Aug. 5

TKM Theatrical Productions will sponsor “Meet The Roosevelts” Aug. 5 at 7 p.m., at The Amana Performing Arts Center, 39 38th Ave., Amana.

Take a walk back in time and meet President Theodore Roosevelt and Mrs. Roosevelt during the White House years. During the presentation, they discuss current (1901 — 1909) topics, their time at the White House, family, and their years after the White House.

There will be time after the presentation to meet performers Larry and Julia Marple and for questions and answers.

Larry and Julia Marple have been performing as Theodore and Edith Roosevelt since 2008. They have performed at Theodore Roosevelt's home, Sagamore Hill in New York and at Roosevelt Memorial Island in Washington, D.C., as well as numerous venues across the country. This will be their 10th summer performing in Medora, N.D. Larry is a second-grade teacher in Springfield, Ohio. Julia worked most of her career in the history field, including the Ohio Historical Society.

Tom Milligan of TKM Theatrical Productions states, “We wanted to bring this show to Amana because the Marples truly become the Roosevelts on stage. Their depth of knowledge not only of the people but of the times just adds to experience of bringing history to life for the audience in such a unique presentation.”
