MONTEZUMA — A new business serving nutritious and healthy drinks recently opened on the Montezuma Square.
Monte Nutrition, located at 115 S. Fourth St., Suite 1, in the former dance studio, opened its doors Oct. 8.
The business is owned and operated by Nikki Stravers, her daughter, Sophia Stravers and Nikki’s sister, Tammi Schwickerath.
The business is a Herbalife Nutrition Club featuring an assortment of nutritional drinks including tea bombs and meal replacement shakes. The menu includes 33 natural, plant-based caffeinated options along with a variety of caffeine-free options.
“Everything is healthy,” said Nikki. “It’s good for you.”
Nikki said all the drinks on the menu are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, clean energy and mouth-bursting flavor.
“They are diabetic friendly,” said Nikki. “Every ingredient we use is diabetic friendly. The drinks have less than five grams of sugar, are low in carbs and very low in calories.”
Nikki said the shakes are a full meal replacement and are only 250 calories with 24 grams of protein and 21 essential vitamins and minerals.
Nikki said Herbalife is a worldwide company with Nutrition Clubs all across Iowa and around the nation. It has clubs in Brooklyn, Pella, Oskaloosa, Colfax, Tama and Newton.
When asked why Montezuma, Nikki said she, her daughter and sister started a club store in Colfax a year ago in August and wanted to expand the business.
“My sister and I grew up at Lake Ponderosa (spending many summer days there), and we thought Montezuma would be a good opportunity to open a Nutrition Club,” she said.
“We’ve had a really good start. We have received a warm welcome from the community.”
The owners did much of the decorating of the store, and Nikki and Tammi’s dad built the customer-friendly counter.
Many take their drinks to go, but there is seating in the store for those who want to enjoy a drink and visit with a friend.
Since opening the store, Nikki, Sophia and Tammi have been making the rounds in the community, giving away free drink samples and $5 gift cards.
“We offer all school staff and students a special discount every day,” said Nikki.
Other products offered at the business include protein pudding, protein balls and protein iced coffee.
“It’s nice that there are a lot of options for people,” said Nikki of being in the Montezuma community.
Store hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The business can be reached at 515-387-3229 or via email at montenutrition@gmail.com.
