Montezuma advances to regional semifinals

Four area teams competed in Class 1A regional quarterfinal volleyball play Wednesday night. Only one is advancing to the semifinals.
Montezuma 3, Iowa Valley 0
MONTEZUMA — Make it now 18 matches in a row Montezuma has won, this time by set scores of 25-8, 25-11, 25-21 against the Iowa Valley Tigers.
Montezuma hit with a .290 kill efficiency and 41 kills.
The Bravettes will face No. 13 Cedar Ridge Christian in the regional semifinals Monday.
Iowa Valley finishes its season 7-24.
North Mahaska 3, HLV-TC 0
NEW SHARON — It would be North Mahaska winning this time around in this South Iowa Cedar League matchup with HLV-TC.
The Warriors totaled 24 kills in the loss.
HLV-TC finishes the season at 14-12.
North Tama 3, BGM 0
TRAER — BGM faced a tough matchup against the No. 3 ranked team in the class, and North Tama showed why its ranked so high in volleyball action Wednesday.
The Redhawks limited the Bears to just 11 kills in the three sets.
BGM closes the season at 12-10 and will return a nice core of players for next season.
