Montezuma Specialty Care gets deficiency-free survey

MONTEZUMA — Montezuma Specialty Care celebrated a deficiency-free state survey this month and recognized its team members for their dedication and commitment to quality care.

A deficiency-free survey means state surveyors found no deficiencies during their annual inspection, Specialty Care said. The survey confirmed that Montezuma Specialty Care is meeting or exceeding all state and federal requirements in the areas of resident care, services, and environment.

This designation is rare and comes after a rigorous process where state agencies conduct unannounced surveys, often over the course of several days, to observe resident care, check all records, and interview residents, family members and team members.

“We are very proud of this team for achieving a deficiency free survey,” said Jessica McDyer, Chief Operating Officer for Care Initiatives, the nonprofit owner of Montezuma Specialty Care, in a press release.

“It takes a collective effort from each and every team member to make this happen and really demonstrates this team’s commitment not only to providing quality care but ensuring residents can thrive.”

Montezuma Specialty Care is licensed to provide quality care to up to 41 residents, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serving individuals from Poweshiek County, and many surrounding communities, the skilled nursing team provides Montezuma Specialty Care residents with an active and engaging quality of life through daily programming, social and educational activities, and services that promote physical health, provide mental stimulation, increase engagement and help residents thrive in a home-like setting
