AMANA — The Amana Heritage Museum, 705 44th Avenue, Amana, will be open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of Winterfest celebrations in the Amana Colonies Saturday, Jan. 24.
The day will feature a book signing and author program with two local authors, R. C. Eichacker and Melinda Wichmann. Both authors will be available to sign and sell copies of their books.
At 1 p.m., the museum will host a special author program during which the authors will discuss their books, share insights into their writing process, and answer questions from the audience. The program is included with free admission and is open to the public.
Eichacker is the author of “Marriage by Committee: Marriage Customs of Early Amana,” a historically grounded novel that explores courtship, faith and community life in the Amana Colonies during the communal era, said the Heritage Museum in a press release.
Wichmann’s debut novel, “How to Live with a Ghost,” is a lighthearted mystery and romance set in Eastern Iowa that blends humor, healing and a touch of the paranormal, the press release said.
The Amana Heritage Museum tells the story of the Amana Colonies and their unique communal past through exhibits, artifacts and preserved historic spaces. Winterfest offers a quieter, more personal opportunity to explore the museum while enjoying special seasonal programming.
