MARENGO — The Iowa County Historical Society annual fall festival will have demonstrations of pioneer skills — including the making of apple cider — and mule wagon rides as usual, but the event will also celebrate a big anniversary.
The Historical Society is celebrating 165 years of train service in Marengo with a display and presentation by historian David Wendell during the fall festival Sunday, Oct. 6.
The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Heritage Museum at 675 E. South St. in Marengo with demonstrations and wagon rides from Bob Gerard. Activities continue to 1 p.m.
The museum will serve a meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Historical Society members will meet and elect officers at 1 p.m., and Wendell will begin his presentation at the museum at 2 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
