Names released in Friday shooting

WILLIAMSBURG — A husband and wife, were shot, one fatally, on Interstate 80 near Williamsburg Friday, June 21, about 9 p.m.

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that the victims were David Robert Morse, 56, and Tara Elinor Morse, 52, a married couple from Holt, Michigan.

David Morse was pronounced dead at the scene. Tara Morse was transported to an area hospital, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

The shooting occurred at the westbound on-ramp of Interstate 80, exit 225, in rural Williamsburg.

The case remains under investigation with assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for this week at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
