State runners-up to be honored
The English Valleys girls' basketball team of 2003-04 will be honored at the varsity contest between Cedar Valley Christian and the English Valleys Bears Saturday, Jan. 20 at Cedar Valley Christian School in Cedar Rapids.
The game will begin at 2 p.m., and the State Runner-Up team of 2003-04 will be introduced between the varsity games. All are invited to attend.
North English woman earns honors
STEVENS POINT, Wisc. – Alaina Allen of North English was one of more than 2,500 undergraduates who received high honors at The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point during the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year.
Full-time undergraduates who earned grade point averages of 3.90 to 4.0 are given the highest honors designation. High honor citations go to those with grade point averages from 3.75 to 3.89 and honor recognition is accorded to those with grade point averages from 3.50 to 3.74.
Armbrecht named to honors list
SEWARD, Neb. -- Lydia Armbrecht of Williamsburg was recently named to Concordia University, Nebraska's Honors List for the fall 2023 semester.
A total of 226 students were named to the list. Qualifying students earned 3.90 grade point averages or higher while completing at least 12 credit hours.
Iowa State honors fall grads
AMES -- More than 1,700 graduates received degrees from Iowa State University this fall. Graduate and undergraduate ceremonies were held in Dec. at Hilton Coliseum.
From Ainsworth, Jaselyn Robertson earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business. Alex Cheney, of Deep River, earned a B. A. in agricultural studies.
Mason Erger, of Marengo, earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. He graduated cum laude.
From Montezuma, Joseph Kasal earned a B.S. in management information systems, graduating summa cum laude, and Tyler Meyer earned a Master of Science degree in environmental science.
Wellman’s Abbi Paterson earned a B.S. in marketing, graduating summa cum laude, and Ryan Smit earned a B.S. in industrial engineering.
Jacob Mohr, of Williamsburg, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and graduated cum laude.
Cochran named to dean's list
BROOKINGS, S.D. -- South Dakota State University announced last week that Shelby Cochran, of Oxford, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2023 semester.
Overall, 3,475 students from 39 states and 24 foreign nations are on the list. Nearly 1,500 students received a 4.0 grade point average.
Cochran is a student in SDSU's College of Education and Human Sciences.
Coe releases dean’s list
CEDAR RAPIDS – Two area students made the dean’s list at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
Owen Cook, of Montezuma, and Courtney Rhinehart, of Victor, both made the list for the fall 2023 term.
To be named to the Dean's List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term and rank in the top 10% of the student body.
Upper Iowa announces deans' list
FAYETTE -- Upper Iowa University has announced its Dean's List for the 2023 fall semester.
Included on the list are Deshaylea Huber and Jacob Reineke, of Belle Plaine, and Lainey Davis of Brooklyn.
To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average and be enrolled as a full-time student.
Hain named to SNHU Dean's List
MANCHESTER -- Troy Hain, of North English, has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s fall dean’s listThe fall terms run from September to December.
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the dean's list. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
Students earn Buena Vista honor
STORM LAKE -- Buena Vista University named more than 500 students to the fall dean’s list.
Courtney Cornett and Hannah Spangenburg, of Grinnell; Jamie McClenathan, of Brooklyn; and Alejandra Seth, of Tama, are on the list.
The dean's list recognizes full-time students achieving a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester.
