MCC announces dean’s list
MARSHALLTOWN — Students from Iowa and Poweshiek Counties were among the 248 students named to the fall dean’s list at Marshalltown Community College.
Cruz DeJong and Madison VanZee, of Montezuma, made the list, as did Micah Garringer, of Williamsburg. Garringer finished the term with a 4.0 grade-point average.
Central College students named to dean's list
PELLA — Central College recognized 408 students on it fall dean’s list.
Included on the list were Noelia Aguilera, of Gilman; Brock Beck, Emory Clements, Kyla Daniel, Cally Gibbs, Robert Groves, Cole McGriff, Julio Parmley and Andrew Wilkins, of Grinnell; Olivia Bohlen, of Belle Plaine; Hunter Clemann, of Tama; Benjamin DeMeulenaere, of Chelsea; Dylann Huyser, of Lynnville; and Kassidi Steel, of New Sharon.
Cushman graduates from Mercy
DES MOINES — Holli Cushman of Montezuma was conferred a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree by Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines.
Cushman was also named to the president’s list for the fall 2023 term.
Scholar Day at Central
PELLA — Central College in Pella welcomed 140 students to its Winter Scholar Days where prospective students compete for scholarships.
Attending were Brielle Sherman and Olivia Renze, of Grinnell; and James Brant, of Tama.
This year Central introduced a new group challenge — the moon landing, past and future, and the theoretical exploration of the dark side of the moon. Scholarship candidates prepared for the day by learning more about the Apollo project and hearing NASA astronaut, Raja Chari, discuss his experience as an astronaut.
McGriff competes in Mock Trial
PELLA — Cole McGriff of Grinnell participated with the Central College Mock Trial Team. McGriff is a philosophy major in the Class of 2025.
Mock Trial has been a student organization at Central College since 1984. For generations, Students gain confidence in public speaking skills and strengthen their knowledge of law during the event, said the college.
