Fye named to dean's list
PELLA — Gabrielle Fye, of Brooklyn, was named to Central College's fall 2023 dean’s list. Fye was among 408 students named to. the list
To qualify for the honor, a student must earn a 3.5 or higher grade-point average on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.
Spring recital features Armbrecht
SEWARD, Neb. — On April 9, Concordia University’s music department conducted its spring 2024 honor recital, showcasing the vocal and instrumental talents of their students.
Lydia Armbrecht, a mezzo-soprano from Williamsburg, Iowa performed. "La reveal de la mariee," "Chanson des cueilleuses de lentisques," and "Tout gai!" from "Cinq melodies populaires grecques" by Maurice Ravel.
Placement in the honor recital program is based on students' performance at auditions held by music department faculty members.
Historical society to meet May 2
The Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the Carnegie building, 200 S. Third St. in Montezuma. Scott and Bonnie Romine of North English will present a program about Iowa connections in the movies. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served.
