Amana hosts blood drive
The Amana Library will host an ImpactLife Blood Drive Tuesday, May 14 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. The drive will be held in the donor bus in the Amana Library/Elementary parking lot, 3023 220th Trail in Middle Amana.
Donors will receive T-shirts or $20 gift cards.
Donors must be at least 17, weigh more than 110 pounds, and possess a photo ID to donate. Donors should eat and hydrate before donating.
Walk-ins are accepted. Appointments are preferred. Whole Blood and Double Red Cell may be donated. To sign up, call the Amana Library 319-622-3192 or email amanalibrary@ccaschools.org to schedule a time.
Students showcase projects
PELLA -- Central College hosted a Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry event to showcase projects by Central students. The event included in-person honors and senior presentations, poster sessions, performances and exhibits.
Olivia Bohlen of Belle Plaine presented “The Effect of Hippotherapy on Gross Motor Skills in Children with Autism.”
Robert Groves of Grinnell presented “Oxidation of Indole to Isatin using a Double Catalytic Cycle,” and Zachary Jacobson of presented “Employee Cybersecurity Training.”
April Perry of South Amana presented “Factors Related to Self-Concept Development in Foster Care Children.”
Grant Stourac of Williamsburg presented “Strength and Conditioning App.”
