Historical society hosts flag program
MONTEZUMA — Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Thursday, July 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the Carnegie building located 200 S. Third St. in Montezuma.
The program will be "Grand Old Flag,” presented by Jim Eichhorn. The public is invited to attend this short program honoring the nation's national flag.
A handicapped entrance can be found on the south side of the Carnegie building. Refreshments will be served.
One of the services offered by Poweshiek County Historical and Genealogical Society is researching family genealogy involving early Poweshiek County residents. Requests come from across the United States every month.
Eight of these requests are mentioned in the latest newsletter. Researchers are usually able to locate the requested information and forward it to the interested parties after many hours of research. Volunteers provide this service.
Fort Hays names 2024 graduates
HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State University recognized more than 1,600 graduates during its spring commencement ceremonies in May.
Among the graduates was Robert Den Hartog, of Kalona, who earned a Master of Science degree in school counseling.
Students graduate Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS — Mount Mercy University conducted commencement exercises in May.
Graduates included Morgan Rhinehart, of Victor. Rhinehart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She graduated magna cum laude.
