Student makes dean's list

STORM LAKE — Courtney Cornett, of Grinnell, made the dean’s list at Buena Vista University for the summer term.

More than 100 students were named to the list, which recognizes full-time students achieving a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the semester.

City closes streets

MARENGO — The City of Marengo will temporarily close sever streets for the Gateway Challenge Triathlon Saturday, Sept. 16.

Court Avenue north of North Street and North Street east of Court Avenue will be closed from a.m. that day until about 11 a.m.

The 2023 Iowa State Fair 4-H livestock show results are listed from the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club.

English Valleys students show at fair

DES MOINES — Liberty Leaders 4-H members from English Valleys earned ribbons at the Iowa State Fair last month.

Edie Axmear earned a purple ribbon in pole bending, grades 7-9 and a blue ribbon in barrel racing, grades 7-9.

Axmear earned a red in ranch horse walk/trot, grades 7-8 and a white in trail, grade 8.

Landon Clarahan earned a blue ribbon in meat goat breeding doe and market meat goat wether.

Layken Lee earned two purple ribbons for breeding meat goat doe and a purple and a blue for market meat goat wether.

Lee earned Grand Champion meat goat intermediate showmanship, grades 7-8.

Trig Lee took a blue ribbon for breeding meat goat doe and another blue for market meat goat wether as well as a blue for meat goat junior showmanship grades 5-6.
