Democrats to nominate candidate
The Iowa County Democratic Party will hold a special convention Saturday, July 13 at 8 a.m. via Zoom to nominate the Democratic Party’s candidate to fill a vacancy on the Iowa County Board of Supervisors.
Eligible voting delegates to the convention are the precinct committee people from Iowa County who were duly elected at the 2024 Democratic precinct caucuses or the precinct committee people who have been duly elected by the Iowa County Democratic central committee since the 2024 precinct caucuses or alternates as prescribed by the rules.
Any Iowa County Democrats who would like to observe are welcome. Send an email to iowacountyiadems@gmail.com for a link to attend.
Wineries host evening of wine and appetizers
AMANA — Three award-winning wineries in the Amana Colonies will host Pairings: An Evening of Wine and Appetizers from 6-9 p.m. July 12.
The event features tastings of six wines and appetizers expertly paired together. Ackerman Winery, Fireside Winery in the Village and White Cross Cellars have teamed up for the evening in the village of Amana.
Check-in is 5:45-6:15 p.m. at Ackerman Winery.

Area students make St. Olaf dean’s list
NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Several Grinnell students were among those who made the spring 2024 dean’s list at St. Olaf College.
Thea Larsson, Kayla Sieck, Sandra Skouson and Molly Turley were all recognized for earning a grade-point average of 3.75 or better while completing at least three credits for the semester.
Church hosts Bible school
NORTH ENGLISH — North English Christian Church will host “Hero Central” Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8 p.m. July 22-25.
Children in preschool through sixth grades may attend. Registration begins at 6 p.m. July 22.
